Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board’s “cost effective marketing plans” have yielded rich dividends. For, the Board has been awarded for the “Most Innovative Marketing Approach” at the annual Hospitality India and Explore the World Awards.
The Board has put its entire focus, for the past one year, to plan and execute a cost effective marketing plan that brought in many innovative ideas to promote tourism in the State.
The Award had added another feather to the Board’s cap as it came after it was awarded “Most Progressive State in Tourism” by Union Tourism Minister at Today’s Traveller Awards and the “Best Initiative in Rural Tourism for Farm Tourism” by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister at The International Tourism Conclave and Travel Awards last month.
“There is lot more to be achieved through a focus approach on product development and more innovative marketing and approach,” said Razit Bhandari, PHTPB’s senior marketing manager who accepted the award presented by Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra.
Bhadari, speaking on the occasion, said that PHTPB’s marketing efforts, to reach out to travel trade, has been successful. “Our approach focuses on travel trade (B2B) more than consumers (B2C),” he said. He said: “Number of familiarization tours with tour operators associations and individuals beside travel media, bloggers etc has been successful in achieving its purpose…We have been participating in various travel exhibitions across India and ensured presence in the most of tourism conclaves, conferences and conventions to have direct interface with travel industry at all locations.”
Bhadari added that through this, the Punjab Tourism has provided a platform for travel suppliers within Punjab, including the tour operators, hoteliers, farm tourism operators, ground handlers etc, to link with travel buyers like tour operators, holiday planners of other locations outside Punjab.
