The State level Recruitment Board, constituted by the previous Congress Government was dissolved on Friday with the Haryana Assembly giving its assent to dissolve the Board.
Supporting its dissolution, Health Minister Anil Vij said that in its tenure of around 21 months, the Board did not undertake any recruitment process and this is why more that 12,000 posts of constables are lying vacant in Haryana Police.
Vij introduced the Haryana Police (Amendment) Act, 2015 in the Assembly and after a brief debate, the House approved the amendments. With the new amendments in the Police Act, direct recruitment to various non-gazetted ranks in police shall be made through Haryana Staff Selection Commission.
Recruitments to gazetted posts will be made through HPSC. Anything done or any action taken by the dissolved board will not be invalidated. Proceedings pending before the Board will be transferred to Haryana Staff Selection Committee.
MlA from Palwal, Karan Singh Dalal, raising a concern about the ongoing recruitment process initiated by the Board, said that the Govt should not scrap the ongoing process and it should take place on merit. Reacting to Dalal’s objection, Health Minister Anil Vij said that a transparent procedure for recruitments in police has already been adopted, where the interview marks have been brought down to 5, whereas the Board was giving 15 marks out of total 35 for interview only, it amounted to 43 per cent of the total marks for selection.
