State-level function on Jathedar Tohra's death anniversary on Apr 1

Punjab Government will commemorate the 13th death anniversary of eminent Sikh scholar and panthic leader Gurcharan Singh Tohra with a function on April 1 at his native village, Tohra, in Patiala district.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ordered to make the necessary arrangements for organising the commemorative event as a mark of respect to the legendary Sikh leader.

“Since the Chief Minister has some prior pressing official engagements on the day, he has deputed his cabinet colleague Sadhu Singh Dharamsot to attend the function,” said the government official spokesperson.

Capt Amarinder gave approval on the proposal to mark Tohra’s anniversary with a state-level function and directed the concerned officials to make arrangements for the event befitting the occasion, he said.

He regretted his inability to attend the function due to pre-scheduled engagements, he said.
