State geared up for mega industrial projects, says Haryana CM Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Thursday said that the State Government is determined to create an ecosystem in which the ‘ease of doing business’ in the State exceeds the best global standards.

The State Government aims to increase the competitiveness of industry by reducing the cost of doing business, he said  while addressing the inaugural session of 4th Invest North Conclave organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at New Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana has the highest per capita income amongst the big States in India and the State GDP is growing at the rate of 7.8 percent annually.

He said that to propel the State to a higher level of growth trajectory, we have come out with a path breaking “Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015”. This Policy envisions growth of the State GDP at a rate higher than eight percent, catalysing an investment of US$ 16.6 billion (Rs1 lakh crore) and generating employment opportunities for more than four lakh persons. Asserting that the State Government is committed to develop infrastructure of international standards, he said “We have restarted work on the 136-kilometre-long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway project that had been stalled for the last many years. While work has already commenced on the Palwal-Manesar section, work on the Kundli-Manesar section would soon be started.”

This project would help in de-congestion of the National Capital Territory (NCT) as the traffic from the northern parts of the country destined to other regions need not pass through NCT of Delhi, thus reducing pollution tremendously. We would develop sector specific hubs along the KMP Expressway corridor, he added.

Talking about the employment opportunities, he said that Haryana Skill Development Mission has been launched to provide employable skills to youth and a Skill Development University is also being set up in the State.

The Chief Minister said that uninterrupted power supply would be provided to the industrial cities starting from district Gurgaon and power supply at cheaper rates would be provided to less developed industrial cities to bring them at par with the developed cities.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that  Modi has taken major initiatives including ‘Make in India’, ‘Skilled India’, Digital India’, ‘Smart Cities’ and the ‘Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation’ and ‘Housing for All-2022’, to focus on some key challenges being faced by our nation.

Speaking on this occasion, Haryana Industries Minister Capt Abhimanyu informed that the State has about 1,670 large and medium enterprises which have catalysed investment of Rs49,000 crore and generated employment for 3.36 lakh persons. Besides, there are around 90,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with total investment exceeding Rs15,000 crore and employing more than 8.9 lakh persons. It is evident that the bulk of employment is generated by MSMEs, he said.
