A special winter session of Haryana Assembly will commence from November 30.
The decision regarding special winter session of the Assembly was taken in a meeting of State Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday.
The session is likely to be concluded in two days.
During the monsoon session of State Assembly held in September, the Chief Minister had assured the Opposition that a special winter session would be convened in the Vidhan Sabha.
During the four days monsoon session of State Assembly, the legislators of Opposition had demanded for a longer session and also complained of being given less time to speak and raise significant issue in the Assembly.
Now, the Haryana Assembly would meet for the third time this year. While the Budget session of State Assembly in March saw 13 sittings spread over 17 days, the monsoon session in September spread over four days.
As per the Constitution, a State Assembly should hold at least one session every six months. However, it does not specify a minimum number of days for each session.
Meanwhile, the special winter session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha is likely to be stormy with the Opposition Congress and INlD ready to corner the ruling BJP on issues including pending Panchayat polls, non-payment of compensation to farmers affected due to whitefly attack, Jat reservation among others.
The State Assembly on the concluding day of its monsoon session had passed the Haryana Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2015 fixing the minimum educational qualification for elections to the Panchayati Raj institutions besides laying down other conditions including making it mandatory for the candidates to have functional toilets. It was later stayed by the Supreme Court.
