Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kanwar Pal Singh Rana has summoned Gurdaspur Milk Plant general manager for the breach of special privilege of an elected legislator.
Acting on the complaint filed by Gurdaspur MlA Brindermeet Singh Pahra, Rana instructed the general manager Ashish Kumar Agarwal to appear in person before him on May 2.
Pahra, in his complaint, alleged that as an elected representative of the people of Gurdaspur, he asked the General Manager (Ashish Kumar Agarwal) that he wanted to know about the functioning of the milk plant.
“In the course of interaction, instead of explaining about the working and losses to the unit, the General Manager has questioned my authority asking ‘who are you’ by adding that he was not answerable to me,” he alleged.
Vidhan Sabha spokesperson said that before handing the case over to Special Privilege Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker is desirous to listen to the views of the General Manager in this regard thus he has been instructed to be present on May 2.
