As the Central Government has decided to celebrate Dr BR Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary on a large scale, it has formed a committee to plan the function of which Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal has also been nominated as member.
Atwal is a part of the special committee headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for celebrating Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary.
After Atwal’s appointment, Punjab SC Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha specially visited his house in ludhiana, and congratulated him. Bagha said that Charanjit Singh Atwal’s appointment is a matter of pride for the entire state because this 19-member committee is headed by the Prime Minister himself and comprises of 11 union ministers and other prominent personalities.
Atwal informed that the centre government has decided to celebrate Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on national level on April 14, 2016. He informed that special functions would be organised in all states and the committee has been formed to chalk out everything in detail.
