Sonia's snub snuffs out dissent in Haryana Cong

The ruling Congress party in Haryana which is plagued by severe infighting seems to get some solace in the end after the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda decided to camp in New Delhi to subvert the voices that were rising within the party against him.

The MlAs and a MP, who were up in arms against the Chief Minister for not carrying out proper developmental work in the State have suddenly, changed their stance on the issue which indicates that for the time being the matter has been resolved.

According to reports, Naresh Selwal, MlA from Uklana in Hisar district and Rajpal Bhukri, MlA from Sadhaura in Yamunagar district, who are loyalists of Union Minister Kumari Sailja, were snubbed by Sonia Gandhi in their recent visit to the national capital from August 6 to 7. The ministers were there to raise their point against Hooda.

None of this MlA got to meet the Congress Supremo. However in his defense, Selwal told The Pioneer that due to the ongoing monsoon session, Congress President is quite busy and she hardly has time to spare, and hence she failed to meet us. But we will try again to meet her in person.

On the other hand, Hooda attended a function at Agroha medical college on August 7 and rushed back to Delhi, where he decided to stay till August 13, to curb all the attempts of the opposition that has sprouted in his own party against him. It seems that Hooda has successfully concluded his job.

The tone and volume of Balbir Pal Shah, MlA from Panipat, who earlier submitted his resignation to the speaker of Haryana Assembly on August 4, seems to have mellowed down after his meeting with Haryana Power Minister Capt Ajay Yadav. Shah said, “I will not take my resignation back as the ball is in the court of the party and it is up to them to decide if they will accept or reject my resignation.”

Arvind Sharma, MP from lok Sabha seat of Karnal also seemed to be on back foot. He thoroughly refuted the claim that he has raised any voice against the developmental work being carried out in the state.

“I never raised any question on the issue of development. Many developmental projects have been executed under the current state government in the Congress regime and people have benefited from them. But still there are certain pockets like Indri, Nilokheri and Assandh which need more attention as the recent flood have left the area in a bad shape and the roads have been swept away,” said Sharma.
