Entrusted upon the responsibility of poor results of the government schools on District Education Officers (DEOs) and Principals, the Punjab Education Minister OP Soni on Wednesday strictly warned that the officers and principals will be fully accountable for the poor performances of the students of the state.
Soni, presiding over the high level meeting with the District Education Officers (DEOs), said that the DEOs should regularly check the schools and punctuality among the teachers and other staff to ensure the better results.
He said that the examination center should be set up keeping in mind that students do not have to travel more than three kilometers from their home.
The Minister said the list of those schools, whose buildings are unsafe and in dilapidated condition, should be sent immediately and all such buildings will be rebuilt in one year.
On the issue of vacant posts of teachers and other employees in various schools, Soni directed that these posts will be filled with due promotions and rationalization. He asked the DEOs to fulfil the posts of class IV and other employees on their level.
To sort out other demands of the officers, the Education Minister ordered to form five-member committee of DEOs, which will redress their problems at the ground level.
