To ensure transparency in its work, Haryana Government will launch a programme of social auditing in five villages in district Jhajjar on pilot basis. These villages include Amadalshahpur, Kadauda, Jhanswa, Redhuwas and Bhindawas in block Matanhail.
A spokesman of district administration on Monday said that the purpose of such an auditing was not to check the accounts, but to assess whether the funds meant for Government schemes being utilised under the law and in a judicious manner.
If the funds are not being utilised properly, the social audit would find the hindrances being faced for the implementation of the programme. Also, it would help in ensuring that the benefit of government schemes reaches the beneficiaries for which the schemes have been implemented, said he.
The Sarpanches, Panches, Gram Sachiv, members of social auditing committee and female members of self help groups participated in a meeting held by Chief Executive Officer of Haryana Rural livelihood Mission, TK Sharma in Matanhail regarding the social auditing. The block level officers and officials associated with MGNREGA also participated in the meeting. The spokesperson that TK Sharma urged all those attended the meeting to cooperate in social auditing and make it a success.
