Vijay K Verma, Additional General Manager (Corporate Communications) in public sector SJVN limited was accorded a warm farewell by the management and employees of the Company on his superannuation on Wednesday.
Verma had been associated with SJVN limited as the Head of Corporate Communications and Spokesperson since August 1992. Recounting his laudable achievements in SJVN, Nl Sharma, Director (Personnel) commended him for managing the media affairs of the Company for such a long period and specially successfully handling marketing the Company’s Initial Public Issue (IPO) in the year 2010 which had been over- subscribed by over 6 times in the then volatile market. Sharma also praised him for the propagation of SJVN’s Silver Jubilee in the year 2012 through various events and activities.
Verma had started his professional career in January 1979 as a Sub-editor of ‘YOJANA’ journal of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, New Delhi. later he shifted from the field of journalism to Public Relations in the year 1984 as Public Relations Officer of Punjab National Fertilizers & Chemicals ltd., a Govt. of Punjab Undertaking.
Before joining SJVN in 1992, he was working with public sector Hindustan Zinc limited as Senior PRO and deputy chief of Public Relations. He is also Senior vice president of the Shimla Chapter of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), a member of the National Council and also a member of the India Media Center (IMC).
