Punjab Government doctors will once again observe a day-long strike on Monday against the sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations and implementation. The doctors had also held a protest against the State Government’s decision on Friday badly hitting the state’s medical services.

During the strike, the doctors, who are protesting the de-linking of non-practicing allowance (NPA) from the basic pay, will also stop medico-legal work.

The strike call has been given by the Joint Punjab Government Doctors Coordination Committee, which has members, including Punjab Civil Medical Services Association, Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association, Punjab Medical Teachers Association, Rural Medical Officers Association, Punjab Dental Medical Officers Association and Punjab Ayurveda Officers Association.

PCMSA senior vice-president Dr Gagandeep Singh Shergill said that OPDs across the State would remain suspended even on Monday. Apart from that, protest will also be held at various places as well.
