SIT to probe into Haryana IAS officer's sexual exploitation case

A day after Haryana senior IAS officer was accused of sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of marrying her, the Chandigarh Police has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the matter.

While talking to The Pioneer, UT SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill said that three member SIT has been formed to look into the case and they have been asked to submit their report at the earliest. No FIR has been registered in the case so far and action would be taken only after we receive the preliminary report from SIT, said the SSP.

A woman had on Tuesday accused senior IAS officer SN Roy of sexually exploiting her for the past seven years on the pretext of marrying her.  The woman, a divorcee, had alleged in a complaint that SN Roy, who is at present posted as Principal Secretary in Haryana's urban local bodies department, had also forced her to undergo abortion twice.

The Haryana Government has already asked Roy to proceed on leave. An official Press note issued on Wednesday had said that on the request of the woman, the Haryana DGP has handed over the complaint to Chandigarh IGP for further investigation. However, Roy's counsel Sartaj Singh Narula denied all the allegations and also accused the woman of blackmailing his client.

Chandigarh Police had on Tuesday confirmed that the cops received complaints from both Roy and the woman. In her complaint filed in February, the woman claimed that she came in contact with Roy in 2008 when she was fighting a case against her former husband. She alleged that Roy introduced himself to her as a divorcee and the two started a relationship.
