Haryana Additional Director General of Police, law and Order, Muhammad Akil on Sunday said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been constituted earlier and was thoroughly investigating the Daulatpur village (Yamunanagar) incident, wherein a person was killed on the night of October 20.

Under attack from the Opposition over increasing cases of crime against dalits,Akil said that all matters pertaining to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, in the State are investigated thoroughly with sensitivity and immediate action is taken.

As many as 403 cases have so far been registered under this Act in 2015 in the State. Similarly, 501 such cases were registered in 2013 and 464 cases were registered in 2014.

He said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Police Department is conducting thorough investigation into the Gohana incident and a case was registered on the basis of a written statement by the family of the victim Govind, which would be verified during the investigation.

Earlier, the State Government had stated that Govind committed suicide.

The ADGP added that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had also been constituted earlier and was thoroughly investigating the incident in village Daulatpur, district Yamunanagar, wherein a person, namely Rajat, was killed on the night of October 20.

He said that according to the facts that have emerged from the investigation so far, it seems that this was a case of suicide. However, the police is continuing its investigation into the matter and would consider all aspects, including scientific and the evidence found on the spot, before reaching a conclusion.

In another case last week, two dalit children had died after their house was set on fire by people from upper caste in Faridabad district.

The ADGP claimed said that all such cases that have been reported recently were not related to conflict between two classes.

Meanwhile, Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party (ClP) has demanded CBI probe into Govind’s death.

Meanwhile, the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA), reacting to the cruel murders of children in a long-standing caste feud in Haryana, has blamed the Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar as he holds the portfolio of Home.

“Attacks on Dalits are very common in Haryana. The Rajput community dominates in most of the villages of Haryana. So the Government should protect the dalits in the state,” said Paramjit Singh Kainth, president of the NSCA.
