The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the 2015 Kotkapura firing incident, has issued summons to the SAD president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for questioning on August 30.

The SIT, led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) LK Yadav, has earlier questioned former state police chief Sumedh Singh Saini.

As per the summon orders, Sukhbir has been asked to appear before the SIT “in person along with the relevant record” on August 30 at Punjab Police Officers Institute, Sector 32, Chandigarh, at 10.30 am.

The SIT would question Sukhbir about the 2015 firing incident. At the time of the incident, Sukhbir was the Deputy Chief Minister and also holding the charge of the Home Department.

Sources close to Sukhbir have stated that he was yet to receive the summons.

In this case, the SIT led by ADGP LK Yadav had earlier questioned former DGP Sumedh Saini, who was the state Director general of Police at the time of firing in Kotkapura. Saini was questioned by the SIT for about four hours. But what actually conspired in the questioning, the SIT did not give any formal information about this.
