“We have registered a case of murder against unidentified youth on the complaint of constable Harender Singh in this connection. Notably, the incident took place when Balwan Sharma was coming back to the police post from Kheri Sadh village in his official jeep after making probe into a case. Constable Harvinder was driving the jeep.
As soon as they reached outside the village, three labourers of Ch. Ranbir Singh Modern Industrial Township (IMT) stopped the jeep and while pointing towards a youth, who was roaming there, said he had snatched their money and mobile phones, said the police.
The youth allegedly opened fires on Balwan Singh from a pistol after being nabbed and pushed by Singh to sit in the jeep. The youth also fired on driver Harvinder Singh when he came to rescue his incharge. The killers and the labourers fled from the spot after the incident.
