Hanging fire since long, the Punjab Government, for the first time ever, came out with a fixed deadline to roll out ‘single window clearance’ system for approvals to industrialists from various departments — November 10.
leaving for Mumbai to meet the heads of various industrial houses in his second round of wooing investment in the State, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Monday said that Punjab would have a ‘single window system’ to facilitate investment by November 10.
Reiterating his commitment to eliminate unwanted laws and rules coming in the way of industrial investment, he asked Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh to come with an agenda to eliminate such archaic rules in the next Cabinet meeting. He said that once single window system was established, industrial houses would be able to get speedy and instant approvals and clearances for setting up of new units. “The single window system office, equipped with modern software, would be headed by a Chief Executive Officer having full authority to grant all approvals and no objection certificates (NOCs), and would start operating by November 10,” he added.
Sukhbir also asked Chief Secretary to make such easy procedure for filing of applications that industrialists would have to file a self-attested single or two-pageapplication, while the restproceedings should becompleted by the CEO.
Deputy CM, who will meet Cyrus Mistry, Mukesh Ambani, Adi Godrej, Anand Mahindra, besides others on Tuesday at Mumbai, said the state-of-the-art single window would be set up at PIDB Office, from where all the approvals and NOCs would be given to industrial houses in the shortest possible span. After a successful trip to Bangalore, Badal is scheduled to hold exclusive meetings with Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry to finalise investment proposals put forth by thelatter during an Amritsar visit in Punjab.
