Stepping up its campaign against Union Railway Minister and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, Chandigarh BJP on Thursday continued its signature campaign for the fourth day.

The party has managed to get over 3000 signatures of city denizens in last four days. The signature campaign was organised in Sector 22 market on Thursday demanding resignation of Bansal.

During the signature campaign, the local BJP president Sanjay Tandon, BJP national in-charge of the legal & legislative Cell and former Chandigarh MP Satya Pal Jain among other senior leaders met the general public apprising them about the Rail Board Bribery Scam.

The party leaders also requested the general public to come out in large numbers to protest against the local MP and demand his resignation over his alleged involvement in a scam. The party reiterated its demand that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should interrogate Bansal as they have enough proof against him due to phone records.

Sanjay Tandon, Chandigarh BJP chief said, “As per the reports, the CBI has evidence that Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla had been boasting about his uncle being the railway Minister and confidently assuring Mahesh Kumar for a post in the Railway Board over phone. Now, the CBI should not delay in interrogating Bansal now.”

Adding to this, senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain said, “The reports that Bansal’s nephew Vikram Bansal, was recommended for the post of independent director on the board of Canara JV are shocking. Bansal has apparently misused his political position. The CBI should investigate into all property details of the Minister’s family.”
