After senior Congress leader an MP Partap Singh Bajwa gave enough indications that former parliamentarian Navjot Singh Sidhu will soon join their party on Diwali, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday said that the cricketer-turned-politician is a “human bomb” and “would explode once he entered the Congress”.
Congress State chief Capt Amarinder Singh is trying to downplay Bajwa by saying that he had no objection to
Sidhu joining the party, said Sukhbir while reacting on the development.
He said that both Bajwa and Capt Amarinder abused each other. “They want to harm each other and Sidhu is a human bomb that will go and explode there,” he said.
Earlier, Bajwa on Tuesday had stated that the matter of Sidhu joining the Congress was under the high command’s consideration. It is Diwali time and Sidhu might get a ‘Diwali gift’, he said.
When asked whether it meant that Sidhu would join the party, he said, “It could be.”
Capt Amarinder had recently said that he had no objection to Sidhu and other Awaaz-e-Punjab leaders joining the Congress. He had said that he was, in fact, the first one to invite Sidhu to join the Congress when the former cricketer had quit the BJP.
Capt Amarinder had done a U-turn over the issue after meeting Rahul Gandhi last week, indicating that talks were on between Sidhu and the party high command.
