Punjab local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, after casting his vote at Amritsar along with his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, on Sunday said that the Congress party will shower development grants once it takes over at the Amritsar Municipal Corporation after winning the polls.
Sidhu added that the Congress’ win in the corporation elections will “complete the power chain” with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh sitting at the top slot, legislators on the middle and the councillors on the lower berth.
“This will create a history by hitting a hat trick...first by bagging 78 seats in Assembly, followed by convincing win in Gurdaspur bypoll and now play ‘googly’ only to win the Corporation seats,” he said.
Sidhu said that the Amritsar MC House will be a gift from Capt Amarinder’s side to the newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi.
At the same time, he ruled out any kind of ‘excesses’ by the Congress. “free and fair elections are being witnessed across the state,” he claimed.
