A sub inspector of Haryana Police is missing while two women members of his family drowned when their car plunged into the Butana branch canal near the Sonepat-Jind border in Gohana town on Sunday. Police said that SI Dharambir was missing while bodies of the two women have been fished out from the canal on Sonipat district and two others were rescued.
“Five persons including Dharambir were travelling in the car. While two women died in the incident, search is still on to trace the cop. One male and one woman were saved after divers were pressed into service,” said a police official. Gohana (city) SHO Kuldeep Singh said divers, a crane and necessary aid were immediately pressed into service after police received information of the accident.
