Shruti Choudhry, former MP and daughter of Haryana Public-Health Minister Kiran Choudhry, is likely to contest the assembly elections from loharu constituency of Bhiwani district.
Shruti has suddenly not only intensified her political activities in loharu but also her supporters have started mounting pressure on her to enter the poll fray after Kiran Choudhry’s close supporter Jai Prakash Dalal joined the BJP by quitting the congress around two weeks ago.
Dalal is the man who held the reins of Shurti’s poll-campaign in last two lok Sabha elections in loharu from where she took the lead over her rival candidates on both occasions. Despite Modi wave, Shruti led over BJP’s Dharambir Singh by 6035 votes from loharu segment in the last lok Sabha polls.
Subsequently, Kiran Choudhry had not only announced Dalal as her candidate during public meetings in loharu around ten days ago but also assured the people of getting him the Congress ticket in the assembly polls.
But Dalal quit the Congress before announcement of the ticket and now he is the strong contender for BJP ticket.
Shruti, who had been carry forwarding the political legacy of former chief minister Ch. Bansi lal, had visited loharu twice during last week to call on her workers and on both occasions, the workers raised the issue of contesting the assembly polls before her stating that since Dalal had deserted the Congress hence she should come forward to lead the constituency as Congress nominee, said sources.
Meanwhile, Shruti Choudhry told The Pioneer that she had been active in her constituency ever since she lost the lok Sabha polls and there was nothing new in her last two visits to loharu.
“My supporters are persistently building pressure on me for contesting the assembly poll from loharu but I have not yet taken a final call. Since I am in politics to serve the people hence will consider the sentiments of my supporters,” said Shruti.
Political observers say it would be an interesting poll battle if Shruti jumps into the fray from loharu constituency which is at present being represented by INlD MlA Dharampal Obra in Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
