Cracking a whip on erring late-comer staff posted in Punjab Civil Secretariat, the Secretariat Administration on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to a total of 55 employees of the Secretariat. They were issued notices as they were not found on their seats at 9:07 am in a surprise check conducted by the State Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal. The absentee employees have been issued show cause notice under section 10 of Punjab Civil Service (Punishment and Appeals) Rule 1970. Four Under Secretaries have also been issued ‘explanation call’ for their failure in not ensuring punctuality of staff working under them and for their “lax supervision”. Those found absent in the surprise check included four superintendents, 20 senior assistants, seven of personal staff and 24 other employees. The officers have been asked to submit their reply within seven days after that Government would take necessary disciplinary action against them.
