Shimla, Chail hotels resent schemes of Online Travel Aggregators

Published on:

Ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations when hotels are booked entirely, hotels in the city claimed that they have been approached individually by the Online Travel Aggregators (OTAs) for renegotiating terms.

A week earlier, the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India  had put some OTAs on notice,

Shimla Hotel & Restaurant Association (SHRA) and Chail Hotel Association on Thursday said that individual hotels have been offered reduced commissions and other renegotiated terms in the contracts by the OTAs. However based on the previous experiences, the hotels have decided to refuse accepting any negotiations that are customized and have demanded a uniform business ethic.

“Not only these OTA’S are charging huge commission but also have listed unregistered home stays, villas etc. due to which hotels are losing revenue and government losing taxes, we stand firm with FHRAI in this regard,” said Devender Verma, President, Chail Hotel Association.

"The FHRAI is committed to set things right with the OTAs and non-cooperation from their end will be dealt with a nation-wide protest, as has been our stance,” said Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Vice President – FHRAI & President – Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI).
