Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), it seems, is going deeper in mire. For, the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday announced its decision to move the court against AAP national convener and other leaders for hurting religious sentiments.
SGPC, known as Sikhs’ mini parliament, has decided to file a case against Kejriwal, chief of AAP’s manifesto committee Kanwar Sandhu and party leader Ashish Khetan.
Already, Delhi’s AAP MlA Naresh Yadav has been booked and questioned for his alleged involvement in Malerkotla’s Quran sacrilege case. Its another leader Ashish Khetan has also been booked by the Punjab police for equating holy scriptures with party’s youth manifesto.
The party is tendering an apology after apology for its “unintentional” mistake of carrying picture of the Golden Temple, Sikhs’ holiest shrine, with its party symbol ‘broom’ on the cover page.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said a case under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code will be filed within two days.
“By putting a picture of a broom along the Golden Temple on its manifesto, the party has hurt sentiments of Sikhs. We outrightly reject the apology tendered by them as a crime of such nature is unpardonable,” said Makkar, while addressing a press conference in ludhiana.
Only a day before, the Punjab Police had registered an FIR against Khetan for hurting religious sentiments. An FIR was registered under Section 295 A for hurting religious sentiments at the Civil lines police station in Amritsar.
