The UT Administration is working on framing a price and preference policy in Chandigarh. Besides, the UT industrial policy will also be unveiled soon.
UT Industries Department, Director, SK Jain while speaking at the second edition of Seminar Series on Empowering SMEs through ICT Intervention organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday said that the Administration is working on Chandigarh price & preference purchase policy. The policy once notified will help the MSMEs in Chandigarh in further business growth, said he.
Quoting the latest scheme by the Government of India for technological upgradation of MSMEs, Jain added that “Realising the importance of ICT intervention for the MSME sector, Government of India is identifying clusters, where 25 per cent subsidy would be given to those MSMEs who enhance their production with the application of IT”.
“Collaboration of e-commerce, cloud computing, management through dashboards and improved supply-chain management can revolutionize the growth of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises” he added.
Dr Sameer Goel, Chairman, CII Special Interest Group on ICT & ITeS and Practice Manager, Infosys ltd informed that “IT adoption should address the issues of MSMEs such as high cost of production, inefficiency in business, lack of capital for investment, capacity building, low wastage, global linkages and outreach for MSMEs, Non-tangible Return on Investment (RoI) amongst others. We need the IT Industry to reach out to tier-II and tier-III cities and these roadshows are one of such initiative to bridge the gap.”
