The students and teachers of Government Senior Secondary School, Kohand, in Karnal, and visitors at Sukhdev Dhaba in Murthal had a pleasant surprise in store on Wednesday when the Chief Minister Manohar lal visited these places on his way to Chandigarh from Gurugram.

After the launch of the golden jubilee celebrations at Gurugram on Tuesday evening, the Chief Minister while on his way back to Chandigarh on Wednesday stopped over for a surprise visit at Government Senior Secondary School, Kohand and took time out to interact with students and teachers.

The Chief Minister quizzed the students on digital literacy, skill development, general knowledge and welfare policies of the State Government. "You are living in the era of information technology and you should utilise it. Better do not bring your mobile phones to school", he exhorted them.

Speaking to the teachers of the school on the mid-day meal scheme, the Chief Minister directed them to ensure quality and hygiene of the food served to the students.

"The representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and people should take care of government schools and other facilities being provided by the government. They should also take care of cleanliness and work for proper implementation of the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign," he quipped.

Earlier, Manohar lal surprised the visitors at Sukhdev Dhaba at Murthal in district Sonipat, and had food with them. Sukhdev Dhaba, one of the popular eateries in Murthal, was in the limelight after the Dhaba owner had reportedly claimed that women were violated during the Jat reservation stir earlier this year in Haryana.
