The child marriage of a 16-year-old girl with a much older man was prevented in Sarai village here due to the timely intervention by the staff of her school and the members of district panchayat.
The staff members of Satya Bharti School Bhatti Ke successfully prevented the marriage of the girl who is studying in Class V, school officials said.
“The girl was being forced to marry someone much older than her. The teachers took support of panchayat members and made rigorous follow up to the case until they succeeded in convincing the parents to stop the marriage,” they said.
