Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on Thursday directed the Amritsar Police Commissioner to thoroughly probe the matter pertaining to the rape of a dalit girl in a private college of Amritsar.
“A girl who had gone to the college to seek admission was raped by a youth who offered her a glass of juice while she was filling the form. Afterwards, when the girl became unconscious, the youth committed the ghastly act. The police didn’t initiate any action as the youth belonged to a well-off family,” noted the Commission’s chairman Rajesh Bagha.
Bagha said acting swiftly in the matter, the Commission has instructed the Police Commissioner, Amritsar, to submit the complete report in this regard within a week to the Commission.
