Almost all senior leaders of party, including national BJP president Rajnath Singh, leader of Opposition in lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu among others were present in the meeting held at the residence of party’s veteran lK Advani on Sunday morning. Jain was invited in the meeting to formulate the legal position of the party in this regard. Jain referred to various documents, which form part of the CBI chargesheet in the Railway Bribery Scam, to show that Bansal had complete knowledge regarding payment and receipt of bribe in this case.

He also told the central leaders that accused Mahesh Kumar and Vijay Singla were constantly in touch with the sons of Pawan Bansal, including through phone calls made and at the official residences of Bansal. Jain also brought to their notice that, infact, they were regularly talking to each other right upto 5 pm on 3 May, 2013. The party leader, referring to various documents from the CBI chargesheet, told the central leadership that the accused persons were constantly mentioning the names of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel in their conversations. Jain also apprised them that the tape recording of the conversations between Pawan Bansal, Vijay Singla and Mahesh Kumar are not available on record in the CBI Chargesheet and its seems that these have not been brought on record so that Bansal can be somehow saved from prosecution in this case. All the central leaders asked Jain to continue party’s fight against corruption. Now, the matter is likely to be raised during monsoon session in Parliament in the coming days.
