Punjab Government on Saturday issued instructions regarding distribution of old age pension saying that the onus would be on the sarpanches of the village.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said that pension, enhanced to Rs500 by the State Cabinet
recently, would be distributed by the sarpanches of the villages. He said that the pension of January 2016 would be payable in February 2016.
He said that the sarpanches would get the pension by 10th of every month, which had to be disbursed amongst the beneficiaries by 15th.
Badal also elaborated that the DC’s of the districts concerned would co-ordinate with the sarpanches of the villages falling under their districts so as to ensure that such beneficial schemes of the State Government are properly implemented.
Punjab Finance Minister, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and other officials were present on the occasion.
