Under attack over his alleged support to the Sikh radicals to organise ‘Sarbat Khalsa’, senior Congress leader Sukhjinder Raj Singh lalli Majithia on Tuesday challenged Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to prove the authenticity of the audio-tape that has been cited as evidence to prove the involvement of Congress leaders in November 10 congregation (Sarbat Khalsa).
SAD, including Sukhbir, has all along been referring to a taped conversation purported to be of lally Majithia and another Congress leader Harminder Singh Gill with some of the organisers of Sarbat Khalsa congregation to allege “Congress’ hand”.
Majithia warned Sukhbir of filing defamation case against him as he was levelling “false and baseless allegations” against him without proving the veracity of the tape.
At the same time, he made it clear that he “participated in the Sarbat Khalsa as a Sikh, the agenda of which was stated to be the steps to be taken to restore dignity of the supreme institutions like Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee”.
“I would participate in any campaign on this agenda in my capacity as a devout Sikh,” he said, adding that he was nationalist and secular in real sense as Sikh religion itself was secular.
