On the issue of Sangat Darshan, Punjab Congress on Sunday said that it was being used as a “cover-up for poor governance and to promote political favouritism”.
“People are denied justice through administrative channels and they are forced to beg from the Chief Minister who plays feudal lord. Badal is misleading people in the name of Sangat Darshan and wasting development funds by giving partial grants for development work in villages,” said the Congress MlAs Brahm Mohindra, Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Parminder Singh Pinky and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, in a joint statement. They asked Badal to streamline administration and ensure speedy justice and redressal of grievances of people through official channels. “The exercise is aimed to give grants to keep village panchayats under political obligation,” they averred.
