The second day of the SAENIS EFFICYClE, 2013 witnessed a fierce battle between various participating teams, in the static and the dynamic events at UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
After the technical inspection on day one, 52 teams qualified for the next round of tests. The static events included: Cost evaluation, Innovation evaluation, Design evaluation and Marketing Presentations. The highlight of the day were the dynamic events where the participating teams had to struggle hard to cross the hurdles in the tracks and the one which takes the minimum was to be judged the winner.
The Dynamic tests included Gradient test, where the cycles had to run over a 3 degree slope only using the electrical power and no human effort, Utility test, in which a track was designed to check the manoeuvrability of the vehicles. The track constructed for the purpose was made tougher with the introduction of sand, gravel and cement bags. Also the turn radius was reduced from 6 m to 4 m.
In the acceleration test, the teams were to cover a distance of 100 m, in the shortest time period. This test was the most crucial as the funnelling before the final race is done on the basis of results of this test. The enthusiasm of the participating students could be felt in the air and the hard work of the organising team could be seen bearing fruit. The much awaited 2 hour endurance race which carries maximum marks will be held on Sunday morning around 9 am.
