Shiromani Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday announced that SAD’s Maghi conference would see historic gathering never before witnessed in the State. He said that the conference would be the beginning of electoral battle for 2017 general assembly elections.

Addressing party workers as a part of taking stock of preparations of Maghi conference, Sukhbir said that this year’s conference would be the “grandest” in scale in comparison to the rallies of opposition parties and keeping in view this aspect, SAD has selected a large and spacious venue near village Rupana.

Expressing confidence, he said that the Maghi conference would herald the bugle of battle for 2017 elections.

Replying to media queries, SAD president said that only those people are joining the ranks of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who are not being paid attention to and not being listened to anywhere else.

In a scathing attack on AAP, Sukhbir said that AAP has not only completely failed to run the affairs of Delhi efficiently but also ran away from fulfilling its poll promises.

Sukhbir said that the Congress party had never ever cared for safeguarding the interests of Punjab.

Taking the Congress further to task, he said that its previous Government has done nothing to tackle the problem of waterlogging but the SAD government has commenced projects after careful planning to solve this problem in the south western districts of the state and the efforts have started bearing fruit.
