SAD urges Modi to take up Gurdwara issue with Sharif

Senior SAD leader Kuldeep Singh Wadala on Monday appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up with Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif the issue of making the pilgrim visits to Pakistan’s Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur “visa free”.

“Narendra Modi will discuss a host of bilateral issues with the Pakistan’s premier on May 27. We urge him to also talk through the issue of making the visits to the shrine, which is only at three-kilometre distance from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab,” the SAD leader said.

He added that this was “a matter of faith of Sikhs”, and the issue was being raised for years but no government paid attention to it.

Modi, who sworn-in as the Prime Minister on Monday, will meet his Pakistan counterpart on Tuesday and is expected to discuss bilateral issues.
