SAD urges ECI to direct Cong, AAP not to resort to violence

The ruling SAD on Tuesday urged the Election Commission of India to direct both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) not to resort to violence and act with restraint.

“AAP and Congress are resorting to violence against each other in run up to assembly polls which is vitiating the peaceful political environment in the state,” said SAD secretary general and MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.

He urged the Election Commission to direct both the parties “to act with restraint and limit their campaign within the well-defined decorum and not to instigate or provoke or threatened the rival political parties”.

The assertions came on a case registered against Indian Youth Congress president and Gidderbaha MlA Raja Amarinder Singh Warring and his four gunmen on a complaint by an AAP activist under sections 341, 323 and 34 of the Indian penal Code (IPC).

“Both the Congress and AAP are totally frustrated and are resorting to undemocratic tactics. Given the inbuilt tendencies of both the parties, this tendency is likely to intensify if the Election Commission failed to stem the rot,” he said.
