SAD to organise conferences and rallies to protest against Cong Govt

Gearing up to push the Congress-led Punjab Government into a corner over its “utter failure” on various fronts, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday announced its strategy of holding four historical conferences as well as starting the second phase of ‘Pol-Khol rallies across the State in the coming days.

“The party has decided to hold four big conferences on different sacred and historical occasions across the state in coming days,” said the party senior vice-president and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema.

He said that first conference would be held on August 15 at Isru (Khanna) while the second, to mark the martyrdom day of Shaheed Harchand Singh longowal, would be organised at longowal on August 20.

On the occasion of Rakhar Punia as well as Chhappar mela, third and fourth conferences would be held on August 26 at Baba Bakala and on September 25 at the Chhappar village in ludhiana respectively, he added.

Cheema said that the ‘meet the public’ campaign would be magnified to strengthen the party.  “The holding of ‘Pol-Khol rallies’ would be resumed across the State which had been postponed at the onset of the harvesting season. As many 16 assembly constituencies were covered during the first phase of ‘pol-khol rallies’ and the remaining constituencies would be visited during the second phase of this campaign,” he said.

SAD leader said that how this Congress Government had betrayed every section of society by reneging from all its promises made to farmers, Dalits or youth to get their votes, would be exposed at these rallies.
