The Shiromani Akali Dal will file a complaint against the Aam Aadmi Party, especially its leader Bhagwant Mann, for “inciting” people against their political opponents with the sole objective of creating a media hype of these so-called ‘attacks’.
“SAD has decided to file the complaint with the Election Commission of India seeking action against AAP. The party will bring to the ECI’s notice the statements of AAP leadership, including those of Bhagwant Mann, asking people to attack the SAD-BJP and other party’s leaders,” said party secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema on Monday.
Seeking strong action against AAP and its leadership, particularly Mann, Cheema said that AAP, with one point agenda of creating media hype with sole motive to derive political mileage, is resorting to this type of violent means.
“After the imposition of poll code in the state, when this party had realized that SAD-BJP alliance is all set to form the government third time in succession, it started attempts to create ‘attack news’ in the media only to give the impression that people are against the ruling combine. It is most unfortunate that instead of launching its campaign sincerely by seeking votes from the people, AAP is resorting to these types of dirty tricks,” he said.
Citing examples, Cheema said that during poll campaign in Mansa district a few days ago, Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann had openly exhorted people to stone other political party leaders when they visit them for campaigning.
“This news was widely reported by a news channel. Continuing with this misadventure, they tried to create a scene of violence when Sukhbir Badal’s cavalcade left the venue after addressing a political meeting in Jalalabad constituency, and today, they have put another video on their official website showing a senior Congress
leader being attacked in Baghapurana assembly constituency,” he said adding that all these acts are “shameful”, “condemnable” and “needs to be dealt with firmly”.
Cheema maintained that AAP’s modus operandi is that they hire about dozen goons in different areas asking them to attack their opposite parties and make videos of these attacks with the sole objective to post them on social media including Facebook and Whatsapp etc.
