SAD says AAP has hurt Sikh sentiments

The Shiroman  Akali Dal on Friday lashed out at Aam Admi Party for trying to rub salt on the wounds of the Sikhs by giving ticket to anti sikh riot accused from Amritsar Central constituency and said that its anti-Sikh face has been once again.

In a statement, SAD spokesman and advisor to Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that it was highly condemnable that the AAP  has fielded a candidate who has been accused of demolishing the model of Darbar Sahib at Amritsar Railway station. He said that by doing so the party has once again rubbed salt on the wounds of the Sikhs community.

Sirsa said that this party had earlier hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community by displaying its party symbol broom with the picture of Darbar Sahib and its leader Ashish Khetan went to the extent of comparing its party manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib. He said that now it has come to light that they have fielded the one who has been accused in indulging anti sikh activities.

The SAD leader said that time and again Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and even the leaders of  other opposition parties have made it clear that the AAP leadership is perhaps unaware of the culture, religious beliefs, history and ethical values with regard to state of Punjab.

Sirsa said that it was unfortunate that AAP is hell bent on playing with the sentiment of the sikh community, adding that it appears that this party wants to revive its old game to flare up emotions of the people only to gain political mileage.

The SAD leader warned the AAP leaders to desist from playing such dirty tricks in the state and try to understand the profile of the state if it seriously wants to contest elections in the state.
