Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Monday paid obeisance at Takth Sri Patna Sahib and prayed for the welfare of Punjab and humanity on the occasion of 351st parkash purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Gobind Singh.
SAD president, who was accompanied by his family members, including Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, also interacted with the Sikh sangat and listened to ‘kirtan’ on the occasion.
later, Sukhbir, accompanied with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh longowal and senior leaders Manjit Singh GK and Manjinder Singh Sirsa also called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence.
Sukhbir thanked the Chief Minister as well as the Bihar Government for celebrating the birth anniversary year of the great Guru at such a grand scale on behalf of the SAD as well as the Sikh community.
He said that the Bihar CM had performed a great ‘sewa’ through this act and that the Sikh community would always be beholden to him for this service.
Sukhbir also invited the Bihar CM to Punjab to receive an honour on behalf of the Sikh community besides honouring him with a ‘siropa’ (robe of honour) on the occasion.
Kumar, accepting the invitation in his humble way, said that whatever he had done was his duty. “I have not done anything. It is the Guru who has taken this sewa from me,” he added.
