A day after Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh sought the Election Commission's (EC) intervention and requested the Punjab Governor to stall the special one-day Punjab Assembly session, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) described it as "totally unwarranted and undemocratic".
The EC has rightly decided not to entertain it and the Governor did not find it worth responding to, said State Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, adding that the Congress had no locus-standi to object to it as all its legislators have resigned and shrugged off their responsibility as elected representatives.
"If the Congress is opposed to the Bills likely to be passed in the Assembly in Monday session, they should come to the Assembly and participate in the debate and articulate their view point," he said, adding that their resignations are still under consideration and they are entitled to attend the session.
