A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal, comprising its senior leadership, will approach the Centre to apprise them of the various serious issues faced by the beleaguered peasantry in the State.
The decision was taken at a specially conveyed meeting of the party’s core committee on Thursday evening.
“There was a strong feeling among people of the Core Committee that the party and SAD-BJP Government in Punjab should jointly bring national focus to bear on the critical farming sector. They are of the view that a
major initiative in the form of a liberal economic dispensation was called for,” said the party general secretary Harcharan Bains.
He said that the meeting also reviewed steps being taken by the leaders and office bearers of the party to overseas the smoothness and promptitude being shown in the crucial procumbent operations for the paddy crop.
