SAD core committee condemns Cong Govt for deserting Pbis and trooping to Delhi to acquire chairs of office

As the entire Punjab Congress unit is busy in resolving their infighting with majoroity of leaders heading towards Delhi, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has expressed grave concern at the manner in which the Congress-led Punjab Government had deserted the people of the state in the midst of the COVID pandemic by shifting to Delhi to fight for the “chairs of office”.

The party, during its core committee meeting held on late Sunday evening, noted that Congress Ministers and legislators were totally indifferent to the suffering of the people battling COVID but were outpacing one another to reach Delhi to acquire the spoils of office.

The core committee, while condemning the Ministers and legislators for giving moral scruples a go by and showing naked greed at a time while the body count in Punjab was amongst the highest in the country, said: “The fact that the Congress high command has encouraged this exercise speaks volumes about the ‘soch’ of the Gandhi family towards Punjabis”.

The core group, presided over by SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, also condemned the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for presiding over the entire mess and keeping himself busy in trying to save his chair rather than taking out time to supervise the fight against COVID.

“It is shocking that Congress Ministers and legislators have rushed to Delhi to lobby for the chief ministerial chair as well as Cabinet berths but they as well as the Chief Minister had never gone to Delhi to demand life-saving drugs, oxygen concentrators, or vaccine doses.

This misplaced priority is the reason for the grave COVID crisis in the State and the total breakdown of the health sector as well as deteriorating law and order situation,” said Sukhbir during the meeting.

Asking the Congress government to put humanity first, Sukhbir said that the Chief Minister should direct all Ministers and legislators to return to Punjab immediately and fan out in the state to assist COVID patients.

Meanwhile the Core committee also noted that due to the complete absence of the government including the Chief Minister and Ministers from the field, the law and order situation had also deteriorated severely.

“While Punjabis are already reeling from the aftereffects of COVID with lakhs facing financial ruin, gangsters are threatening businessmen and extorting money from them,” he said asking the Chief Minister to take immediate remedial action including taking action against Congressmen who were patronizing the gangsters.
