SAD-BJP row: Is Navjot a Congress stooge, asks Virsa

Taking the ongoing war of words between them to the next level, the senior SAD leader and Punjab’s Chief Parliamentary Secretary Virsa Singh Valtoha on Sunday asked BJP MlA Navjot Kaur Sidhu whether she and her husband, Navjot Singh Sidhu, had made calls to former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during the lok Sabha election campaign.

“Navjot Sidhu is continuing to behave in an erratic and bizarre manner by refusing to confront the truth and tell the people why she backstabbed her party as well as her political guru Arun Jaitley in the lok Sabha elections and why her relatives campaigned for the Captain in Amritsar and later for Preneet Kaur in Patiala Assembly bypoll,” said Valtoha.

He said, “We want simple answers to our questions.”Stating that erratic and bizarre behaviour was intolerable in coalition politics, Valtoha said that Navjot Kaur could not enjoy being in the Government and simultaneously oppose coalition candidates and even sit in Congress dharnas.

“This shows you have little respect for your own State president who has rebuked you for speaking out of turn as well as party seniors who are responsible for taking decisions on coalition matters,” he added.

Valtoha said that BJP Amritsar East MlA should also tell the people whether she and her husband spoke to Capt Amarinder during lok Sabha election campaign. “You should also tell whether you are part of BJP or part of a two person (husband and wife) ‘me and mera’ team which uses BJP’s tag only when it suits them,” he said.

“Since the party is of no importance to you, please explain whether you are a Congress stooge who is playing according to a well-laid out Congress game plan,” he added.

Reacting to Navjot Kaur’s statement that she was not given promised funds, Valtoha said that she had now invented another excuse to up the ante against SAD and was hallucinating about a promise of funds only she knew of.

“Her constituency received around Rs75 crore from only two heads of Municipal Corporation and improvement trust. leave aside other heads, she is also largest recipient of MPlAD funds from her husband Navjot Sidhu,” he said.
