'SAD-BJP relation to get stronger, win Delhi polls'

lashing out at Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday advised him to set his house in order first than comment on “a successful and long political alliance” between the SAD and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the country.

“The relationship between the two is going to be stronger with the combine set to win the Delhi Assembly elections,” said party general secretaries Daljit Singh Cheema and Maheshinder Singh Grewal. SAD leaders, in a joint statement, stated that it was strange that the Congress was devoid of any political agenda while contesting the coming elections in the country. They alleged that the state Congress, under Bajwa’s leadership, always echoed insensitivity and carelessness towards the burning issues of Punjab.

Referring to the generosity shown by the State Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in taking the leader of the Opposition Sunil Jakhar along with him to meet the Planning Commission chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to New Delhi, they said that “it was sheer honesty and uprightness on the part of the patriarchal figure Badal that he took the Congress leader so that he could judge himself the well intentioned Chief Minister and the transparency with which he worked.”

Adding further, they demanded Bajwa’s resignation as the State Congress chief as he has been a failure to keep his flock together. “Congress leaders are leaving the party in droves and even the senior Congress leaders are questioning his leadership,” they added.
