SAD-BJP leaders hold mock session in lobby

SAD-BJP combine “run away” from the debate for not having “enough” time to raise their points against Justice Ranjit Singh commission report, and held a mock assembly outside the House.

Just when the Speaker Rana KP Singh announced the time limit for all parties at the onset of discussion as per rules, SAD leader objected for allotting just 14 minutes to the party against 1 hour 20 minutes for the Congress and 21 minutes to AAP.

As the SAD leaders accused the Speaker of being biased in granting time, the Speaker assured them of extending the time and clarifying that allotment was made in propotion to the seats of the party.

SAD leaders then started demanding to speak first and granting more time than the ruling Congress, which was outrightly denied by the Speaker.

Displeased, Akalis and BJP MlAs stormed the well of the House and the Congress MlAs too started sloganeering accusing them of “running away from the debate”.

Amidst Akalis hurling papers of the report at the Speaker, its MlA Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that since Akali Dal has been targeted in the report, the time should be adequately given to Akalis to counter the report.

Congress MlAs accused the Akalis of disrupting the debate. And the Speaker clarified that no speech by any member can exceed 15 minutes as per rules.

As there was complete pandemonium, Congress MlAs including Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Raja Amarinder Singh Warring, Navjot Sidhu had war of words with the SAD-BJP MlAs, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for 15 minutes.
