'SAD-BJP Govt misusing police against political rivals'

After its success in bringing central teams to Punjab to probe illegal mining, and book scam, tje Congress on Monday claimed that soon a central team would visit the State to review the cases of political vendetta against Congress leaders and workers.

Taking strong notice of complaints of vendetta cases registered against Congress workers by SAD-BJP Government in the State, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Shakeel Ahmed said that a central team would soon visit Punjab to take stock of the situation.

“The SAD-BJP Government is misusing police against political rivals. False cases are registered against Congress leaders and workers across the State,” said Ahmed while addressing media persons along with the State Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa.

He said that political parties were given mandate to make development and improve public facilities. “Harassment of opponents is not a healthy trend in democracy. No political party can rule for ever and balance of power in democracy always lies with the people,” he added.

Ahmed added that the party would soon announce the names of lok Sabha candidates as soon as possible. “The list of office bearers of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) would also be announced soon,” he added.

Rebutting allegations of factionalism, he claimed Congress was a united house and will sweep in lok Sabha polls. “BJP has no development agenda and no allies to return to power. The people of the country are fed up from communal forces and they look towards secular and nationalist forces,” he added.

Sukhbir hampering state’s development, says BAjwa

Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday said that undue interference by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal in working of all departments has become an irritant for Cabinet Ministers and his style of working is main obstacle in the State’s development.

Sukhbir lacked knowledge and experience, but he was trying to prove himself expert of everything, said Bajwa while addressing a meeting of party workers under second phase of mass contact programme. “He is jack of all trades but master of none,” Bajwa added.

He said that ministers of various departments were reduced to ‘dummies’ who are made to sign on dotted line.
