To evolve a joint strategy to make the Congress Government deliver on its poll promises as well as ensure law and order in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) will hold a joint meeting of its core groups on June 3 at Jalandhar.
The decision was announced after the Union Minister and State BJP president Vijay Sampla met the with SAD president Sukhbir Badal in this regard on Friday.
Both leaders said the Congress Government had miserably failed to maintain law and order and there was a paralysis in governance with all development work at a standstill. “Besides, the Government is a mute spectator as the Congress workers are running amok and unleashing a reign of terror and repression in the State,” said Sukhbir.
Taking stock of the law and order situation, Sampla said bizarre killings were happening every day, and it appeared as the rule of jungle was prevailing in Punjab.
“Four persons have been shot dead in a killing today itself in Ferozepur even as incidents of loot and dacoity and atrocities against Dalits have become the order of the day,” said Sampla.
Sukhbir said besides evolving a joint strategy to counter Congress repression against SAD-BJP cadre, the joint meeting would also come out...to force the new Government to fulfil the promises made to the people including complete loan waiver.
