'SAD-BJP bypassing police firing, sacrilege issues'

Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Friday lashed out at the SAD-BJP-led Punjab Government for choosing “Sadbhvana Route” to bypass the “sensitive” issues of police firing and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in the State.

lambasting the State Government over its sluggish attitude on these issues, Jakhar raised questions over the credibility of judicial inquiry ordered by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in October to investigate the case of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

Jakhar also slammed the SAD-BJP Government for not providing sufficient staff or mandatory assistance by the State Government to Judicial Commission under the retired Justice Jora Singh. “The Commission was set on October 15 and it had to submit its report within 60 days. Due to apathetic attitude of the State Government, Commission could not start work even after 50 days,” he said.

Slamming the entire SAD-BJP government, Jakhar said that instead of providing timely justice to the victim families, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have been choosing route of Sadbhawana rallies to bypass the issues of police firing and disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib.

“In their rallies, the State Government have been claiming that inquiry of these cases have been transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation but the fact is that the investigation of police firing case is still lying with the Commission,” said Jakhar.

Jakhar advised the SAD-BJP government to come out from these “futile exercises” of organizing so-called sadbhwana rallies and must delivered justice to victim families.

“People of the State now better understand the intentions of SAD-BJP Government behind their so-called Sadbhawna rallies, by which they have been trying to suppress the issues of affected farmers, victim families of firing incidents and the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib,” he said.
